BC Chamber of Commerce Statement on Former Premier John Horgan’s Passing
In response to the news of the death of Ambassador John Horgan, Fiona Famulak, President and CEO of the BC Chamber of Commerce, released the following statement:
“On behalf of the BC Chamber of Commerce, I would like to express our deepest condolences to Ambassador Horgan’s family and friends. I know I speak on behalf of nearly every British Columbian when I say, this one hurts.
“Former Premier John Horgan was a tireless advocate for British Columbia and every person who chose to make it their home, regardless of their political affiliation. He spent almost his entire career in the public eye, always choosing to use his platform to shine a light on the things that could be done better, rather than on himself.
“He approached public service with warmth, curiosity, integrity and an enthusiasm that was infectious. We might not have agreed with every policy decision, but his kindness, candour, sense of humour and sharp wit made even hard conversations enjoyable and memorable.
“To his wife Ellie, his sons and his extended family, while words cannot express my sympathy for you as you come to terms with your loss, know you are in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing John with us, we are a better province because of him.”
