Vancouver Airport Authority (YVR)

About

YVR is an economic and employment engine for BC and beyond.

As Canada’s second-busiest airport, it serves as a critical hub between Asia and the Americas, connecting people, cargo, data, and ideas.

The airport’s success is rooted in its unique operating model. YVR is operated by the Vancouver Airport Authority, a non-share capital, community-based corporation that operates the airport for the public interest. YVR is not government-run or beholden to shareholders. Instead, YVR’s profits are re-invested back into the airport and the community, driving economic growth and supporting thousands of jobs in the region and across the province.

As a people-centered business, we are dedicated to making our community stronger and healthier. We recognize that the high cost of living in Metro Vancouver is making it challenging to hire and retain workers. That’s why we are a certified Living Wage Employer, committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and belonging across the YVR community of employers. Our long-term goal is to make YVR the world’s first Living Wage Airport.

YVR is exploring cutting-edge technologies, such as connected digital twins, that will improve social, economic, and environmental outcomes for local communities, as well as improving airport operations and help to decarbonize Canada’s aviation sector.

YVR is moving forward in partnership with the Musqueam People, upon whose lands the airport sits. Through the 30-year Musqueam—YVR Friendship and Sustainability Agreement, YVR is committed to further actioning the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and responding to the Truth and Reconciliation call to action number 92 – Business and Reconciliation.
