Andrew Czornohalan

DIRECTOR

Northwest BC

Rio Tinto

As Operations Director at Rio Tinto BC Works, Andrew’s role is critical in driving a business that generates $480 million annually to BC’s economy.

Andrew has an educational background in electrical and automation, and as such he’s excelled in technical positions in power generation, mining, and in the automotive industry. His technical expertise naturally progressed to leadership roles, and he’s gone on to project manage multibillion-dollar investments in the mining and metals sectors. In 2011, he was named Project Director of a $700 million smelter upgrade project in Iceland.

Andrew draws from his diverse international experience to progress the zeitgeist of the 21st century—embracing and capitalizing on a global business shift driven by technology and innovation. In his work, Andrew passionately fosters the cultural shift to build sustainable, respectful, and mutually beneficial partnerships with governments, First Nations, host communities and stakeholders. Further, he aims to change negative social attitudes toward business and resources to strengthen BC’s brand of ‘clean growth, moving toward a low-carbon economy.’

He is a board member of the Nechako Fisheries Conservation Program, and calls Kitimat B.C. home.
