On February 19, 2026, the Government of British Columbia announced a $50 million investment to expand access to nasal naloxone across the province as part of ongoing efforts to address the toxic drug crisis.

The BC Chamber of Commerce first adopted policy supporting expanded access to intranasal naloxone in 2023 after the issue was brought forward through the AGM process by a local chamber and supported by members across the province. The policy was re-adopted in 2025, reflecting continued concern about the impacts of the toxic drug crisis on communities and businesses. The Chamber has continued to advocate for this policy direction through constructive engagement with government.

Today’s announcement reflects alignment with that member-adopted policy direction.

As the voice of business in British Columbia, the BC Chamber’s AGM policy process exists to ensure the lived experience of employers and communities is reflected in provincial decision-making. The Chamber remains committed to advancing thoughtful, evidence-informed advocacy that supports healthy communities and a strong economy.
