BC Chamber of Commerce Celebrates Chamber of Commerce Week

The BC Chamber of Commerce, along with chambers of commerce and boards of trade across B.C., is celebrating Chamber of Commerce Week in British Columbia, February 14-18. Once again, the majority of this year’s celebration will be held virtually due to the pandemic.

“This week, we are celebrating the chambers of commerce and boards of trade who advocate on behalf of 36,000 members of every size, and from every sector and region of our province,” said Fiona Famulak, President and CEO, BC Chamber of Commerce. “They are the glue that holds our communities together, they work tirelessly to support businesses and, in particular, have done incredible work over the last two years, while also keeping their own organizations on track.”

This year’s celebration kicked off with a “fireside chat” between Fiona Famulak and the Hon. Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation, who officially proclaimed February 14-18, Chamber of Commerce Week, before participating in an engaged question and answer session with members from across the province.

Other events scheduled for the week include a conversation on February 15 with Tiffany Callender, CEO of the Federation of African Canadian Economics, who will share insights about the business opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. On February 16, Chief Sharleen Gale, Fort Nelson First Nation, and Board Chair, First Nations Major Projects Coalition, will share insights about Canada’s energy transformation to lower carbon and the importance of Indigenous businesses in our communities.
