BC Chamber Welcomes BC Restart Plan

COVID-19 & Economic Recovery
Local & Regional Government

Today, the provincial government unveiled its four-step restart plan to safely bring the people of British Columbia back together. Starting May 25, 2021 there will be a gradual return to business, important social connections, and activities. Driven by data, including the number of adults vaccinated, COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations and deaths, the step-by-step plan will follow approximate timelines and will ease people and businesses slowly out of the pandemic.

In response to today’s announcement, the BC Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Fiona Famulak, released the following statement:

“Today, we breathe a collective sigh of relief as we welcome the announcement of British Columbia’s restart plan that will facilitate our gradual, safe return to normal.

The key to our success over the summer and beyond will be our continued pursuit of having as many people as possible vaccinated, since the greater the number the faster we will be able to resume normal activities in the coming weeks and months. Thank you to everyone already vaccinated as well as to those who have registered and are awaiting their shot. To those not yet registered, please register and join the almost three million British Columbians who have already done their part to help put us on the road to recovery.

In parallel, we will continue to work closely with our network, our industry partners and with government to ensure that the requirements of the restart plan are understood by all parties and unfold safely such that businesses can open and remain open.”
