Arlene Rolston is the Corporate Secretary at the Port of Nanaimo serving her second year on the Board representing the Vancouver Island region. She started working at the Port in December 2013. Arlene has over 20 years of business administration experience, the majority of which has been spent working in downtown Nanaimo. Prior to joining the Management team at the Port in the transportation sector, Arlene worked for the Coastal Community Credit Union for 8 years in the financial sector. Prior to moving to the Island, Arlene also worked for 10 years at Cypress Mountain Ski Resort in West Vancouver, BC in the tourism sector while completing her BA at the University of British Columbia in Socio-Political Economic Development. Her specialties include; public relations, policy development, governance, organization, strategic planning, time management, record keeping, communication, event planning, sales, and customer service. Arlene has volunteered her time advocating for the voice of business in BC for many years. In addition to her elected position on the Board, Arlene sits on the Board Governance Committee, Executive Committee, and is the Chair of the Policy Review Committee (2019-2021). Arlene has been an active member of the Policy Review Committee since 2011, is a member and Past Chair of the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce External Policy Development Committee (2013-2021) and was a Director/Policy Development Committee Chair of the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce (2007-2012). Arlene has also been a member Association of Canadian Port Authorities Law and Governance Committee since 2016 and is currently the Chair of that Committee (2019-2021). In her spare time, Arlene enjoys cooking, staying active and being outdoors.
