PROFILE

Matthew Heemskerk is a member of Alexander Holburn’s Corporate/Commercial, Franchise, and Intellectual Property and Technology practice groups. His clients include distributors, manufacturers, biotech companies and natural health industry companies.

Having traveled throughout Europe, Israel, and Egypt, Matthew’s new-found joy is exploring the natural wonders of British Columbia through the outdoor pursuits of hiking, biking, and backcountry skiing. While in the city, Matthew is an avid hockey player, and enjoys spending time with his wife.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

• Provides general corporate advice to businesses, and advises various companies on issues relating to corporate structure, management, and the resolution of shareholder disputes
• Provides advice on potential trade-marks and files trade-mark applications
• Acts for U.S. and Canadian franchisors looking to expand their systems in Canada
• Advises a NASDAQ–and TSX-listed biotech company on their licensing and distribution agreements, supply agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, and general corporate matters
