What does the BC Chamber of Commerce do?
- The BC Chamber of Commerce is an advocacy organization. Its primary function is to lobby government and other regulatory bodies on the issues that affect its membership of local Chambers of Commerce and Corporate members throughout BC. Read more here.
What is the difference between a Chamber of Commerce and a Board of Trade?
- Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce perform the same functions as business organizations in Canada. In fact, Chambers of Commerce are incorporated under the Boards of Trade Act in Canada.
Can I get obtain Certificates of Origin or have my documents certified by the Chamber?
- Yes; however, the Chamber will not issue any certification unless the documents have first been notarized. You will also be required to submit a letter of waiver. Click here for more information.
Can I advertise my product/service through the Chamber and its website?
- The Chamber does not offer any advertising at this time. Occasionally, at staff’s discretion, the Express Newsletter will feature an event or conference taking place in BC which will be of interest to the business community. You can email event details to bccc@bcchamber.org for consideration.
Can the Chamber provide me with a list of all the businesses in Vancouver or BC from a given industry?
- No. The Chamber keeps information about its Members only. You may want to contact BC Registry Services or the specific industry's professional association.
Will the Chamber provide me with its membership list?
- You can browse the lists of Member Chambers and Corporate Members on the website. The Chamber will also gladly supply you with contact information for local Chambers of Commerce in BC (contact bccc@bcchamber.org to request it). It is our policy not to supply contact information for our Corporate Members to the public.
Does the Chamber have any information about exporting goods from Canada?
- No. You may want to contact the Canada Export Centre
How do I register a business in British Columbia?
- Visit Small Business BC for information and resources to register your business.
Can the Chamber find a specific business in BC for me?
- No. The Chamber does not keep records of all businesses in the province, nor does it provide a verification service.
I have a complaint about a business; can I lodge it with the Chamber?
- The Chamber does not adjudicate business disputes. Contact the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Protection BC.
